Throughout June Theatrum Mundi will be in residence at Civic House in Glasgow, conducting fieldwork in the city as part of our ongoing research on cultural infrastructure, and presenting an exhibition and public programme within ArchiFringe.

Backstage Production: Focusing on the neighbourhood of Elephant and Castle in south London, this exhibition offers a window into rehearsal rooms, food production, makers studios and creative workspaces, asking what it is that makes these places work and how it is to use them. The exhibition will feature photos, drawings, and interviews, as well as a short film by videographer Lucia Sceranková, and will also work as an open office inviting members of the public to meet the team and share their knowledge.

Homemade: To wrap up the exhibition, a weekend of public events will focus on the ways that domestic spaces shapes the culture of the city. We will be talking about kitchen tables, spare bedrooms, home offices, home studios, garages, sheds, bedrooms, bathrooms and gardens, as well as the social, political, historical, geographical and urban conditions around them and how work is made or influenced by them. The programme for  features talks, walks, and performances. All events are free.

Test Unit: We are also contributing to the summer school Material Flows along with Assemble and A Feral Studio. This week inviting contributors to consider our relationship with materials, along with the ecological, industrial and technological systems that bring them into being. This intensive week is a hands-on learning environment to explore a theme and engage with ideas, materials, people and place. Applications open until 13th May.
