This study takes a deep dive into four different cases that host cultural producers within the Calton neighbourhood in Glasgow’s East End.
By taking a nuanced, fine-grained approach to the Scottish backstage territory and focusing on the first-hand accounts of the local artists, performers, and makers, we hope to better understand the contribution these small-scale producers make to the cultural life of the city they reside in, what their infrastructural needs are and how the spaces they work in shape what they produce.
