Listening to Non-Human Life exhibition
Listening to non-human life is an online exhibition accompanying the next Crafting a Sonic Urbansim colloquium, hosted at theatrum-mundi.org from 11-18 March.
Currently, the value of ‘nature’ to human life in cities is mostly framed in terms of psychological impact, disaster mitigation (green infrastructures against flooding or overheating, for example), and the creation of spaces for leisure or aesthetic consumption – parks and gardens.
However, the lifeforms used in these ways are not usually considered constituents: non-human lifeforms are rarely considered to have ‘voices’ within the public sphere. The video works here ask how we can enter into a dialogue with these modes of communication and production, and how being so transform our (humans) own city-making processes?
This new edition of Crafting a Sonic Urbanism is organised for the 2nd year in collaboration with IRIS is taking place online with Gaîté Lyrique on 18 March. The creators of the films was join a roundtable conversation at 16.15 CET.
