Re-Staging Croydon

PolyVocalCity is an intergenerational, educational cohort aimed at individuals who have a strong interest in cities and culture.

Program

The cohort will participate in a seven-month curated program of workshops, talks, walks and activities led by our diverse network of collaborators including artists, activists, thinkers and urbanists. Participants will develop their thinking and practice through the co-production of knowledge, establishing a platform for sharing cross-disciplinary ideas on city-making.

Participants will be supported in co-producing a series of four zines and podcasts exploring how to enact social and environmental justice for Croydon. They will curate a two-day summer school and a three-day festival taking place at the end of the program.

Mission

PolyVocalCity: Re-Staging Croydon will explore how we can use world-building and gaming practices to think about new narratives for the borough.

Through four dedicated sessions on choreography, sound, writing, and infrastructure we will explore strategies for achieving environmental and social justice in Croydon’s urban realm.

The cohort will create a shared space to explore new ideas for the future of Croydon’s Town Centre and public realm, giving participants agency and a shared stake in its reimagining. It will be delivered in partnership with locally based arts organisation Turf Projects and Croydon’s Placemaking Team.
