Tram des Nations Residency

How can public art be used to connect new transport infrastructure to the human and non-human voices of the landscape it traverses? How can travel become an experience of social and political immersion rather than dislocation? How can an infrastructure project enrich relationships between the ecologies it traverses?

The Tram des Nations Residency is an artistic research programme connected to a major tramway extension in the city of Geneva. A multidisciplinary group of artists from Switzerland and France is brought together to explore the landscape of the route and its communities, collecting and imagining stories, testimonies and ideas that can form part of a new approach to public art for this new infrastructure space. The project aims to engage citizens in creating cultural meaning and connection with the territory, expanding their experiences of sustainable mobility.

The project is structured around two artistic residencies in March and April, followed by a public event in June as part of EXPLORE festival and the launch of an online platform of works in autumn.
