Theatrum Mundi works for the expansion, the enrichment and the opening of public life in cities across Europe and the Mediterranean, through research and experimentation connecting urbanism and the arts. We believe that all urban citizens should have safe access to the public realm and the essential infrastructures that support it, opportunities to make and protect their own cultures, and the chance to speak and listen in diverse global conversations of knowledge sharing. Apartheid, ongoing colonisation, and violent occupation are denying Palestinians these rights. Israel’s actions are destroying infrastructures of culture and communication as well as health and education – erasing lives as well as heritage.

Theatrum Mundi stands against these actions. Our work aspires to support cultural and spatial justice in Gaza, Jerusalem, Ramallah, and cities everywhere. We support and have signed calls to architecture and cultural organisations led by Mosaic Rooms, Samia Henni, Adrian Lahoud and others. We are working towards the actions they suggest, including making more opportunities for Palestinian artists and urbanists to collaborate and connect beyond the apartheid. We encourage our friends and colleagues to do the same.
