How can we define polyphony? Is it simply an accumulation of diverse voices, or does it respond to organising principles that drive these voices? Can we find this organisation in the sonic makeup of the urban ‘stage’, where multiple vocal accents, sharp or sustained noises, and relative silences combine with one another? How do inhabitants participate in the making of this polyphony? And can an architecture museum take account of this?

Comment définir la polyphonie ? Est-elle une simple accumulation de voix diverses ou répond-elle à des critères d’organisation qui conduisent celles-ci ? Peut-on retrouver cette organisation dans la constitution sonore de la scène urbaine, où voix aux accents multiples, bruits stridents ou continus et silences relatifs s’entremêlent ? Comment les habitants participent-ils à l’élaboration de cette polyphonie ? Et un musée d’architecture peut-il en rendre compte ?
